KARACHI, Oct 8: The city government has authorized town administrations to collect fees for trade licence and issue the same on behalf of the City District Government, Karachi, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.

The licence would be issued by town Nazims or their nominee, it added.

A letter by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan states that the staff assigned the task of trade license fee collection would also work under the administrative control of the respective town Nazims.

The city government staff handling charged parking affairs are being given under town administration and separate list of such personnel is being sent to the concerned town administrations. The amount of revenues would be deposited in the CDGK account. The city government would retain 20 per cent of the amount and transfer the balance to the town administrations.

Town Nazims have been asked to pursue a transparent procedure in the collection of fees and provide maximum facilities to the payers. They have also been advised to organize camps for the fee collection and issuance of licences. To avoid any misgiving, fee rates should be displayed prominently at the collection camps.

LITERACY CENTRES: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has sought report on 154 literacy centres and 69 vocational centres, established in the city, and has issued orders to conduct survey of these institutions.

He issued these instructions at a briefing of the Literacy Group of Officer, on Wednesday and directed them to submit report on the expenses incurred in this regard.

He said that vocational training of women was necessary to eliminate unemployment and survey should be conducted of those buildings where these vocational centres could be set up.

He directed the officials concerned to develop syllabus for adults soon and to resolve the problems faced by the literacy centres to improve these institutions.

City Nazim was told that PC-1, worth Rs11 million, for promotion of literacy had been approved and work on it was underway at a satisfactory

pace.

He was also informed that two books for adults were being designed, with special emphasis on ideology of Pakistan and Islam, to educate the people about these subjects.

City Nazim further sought a detailed report about opening of literacy centres at union council level within two months, and to prepare a feasibility report about establishing of literacy centres to educate employees of the City government.

PAKISTAN IDEOLOGY: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has underlined the need for creating awareness among the younger generation about ideology and movement for Pakistan.

“It is particularly the responsibility of our teachers to perform this religious and national duty,” he said, while speaking at an educational talent award ceremony in UC-7, Sharifabad area on Wednesday.

Lauding a tableau presented by children on “Al-Quds”, he said that the Islamic spirit portrayed in the tableau should be further highlighted.

Mr Khan pointed out that the City government had given priority to maintenance of law and order in the city and said it was for this reason that city areas were humming with activity.

Appreciating the managements of schools for holding such events, he said this would help the children to get familiar with their history and achievements of their ancestors.

The Nazim, Liaquatabad Town, Dr Parvez Mahmood, and Naib Nazim, Shahabuddin also spoke on the occasion.
