KOHAT: An SOS message service has been introduced in the educational institutions across the district linked with the local Rescue 15 centre to deal with any untoward incident, a security official said.

He said in case of any emergency, the principal or any other responsible person would press a button on his mobile phone and alarm would start ringing in the Rescue 15 office. Besides the location of the site would appear on the main computer via Google map facility, he explained.

The SOS message would also be available with the nearest police station and other rescue organisations so they could reach the affected area in the shortest possible time, said the official.

The free 24-hour facility has been provided to the primary, middle, high schools, colleges and universities, he said, adding soon it would be extended to all the sensitive institutions and buildings vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
