LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has decided to stage protests against power outages across Punjab on Friday (tomorrow).

The day will also be observed as a day of mourning for Karachi heatwave victims.

PTI Punjab Organiser Chaudhry Sarwar has called upon all districts’ party leaders to hold protests simultaneously outside press clubs at 5pm on Friday.

Mr Sarwar says he will himself lead a protest outside Lahore Press Club. He also asked the party workers to take part in protest in large numbers.

Mr Sarwar said the government had completely failed in curbing the power crisis. He said the Karachi heatwave death toll due to the worst-ever power outages was too big to be forgotten and forgiven.

He said the protests would continue till the government would take measures and control power crisis.

PAT: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has also decided to jump on the bandwagon of chiding the government for the power loadshedding by joining other opposition parties’ protest on Friday.

A decision to the effect was taken by the central working committee of the PAT with its President Dr Raheeq Ahmed Abbasi in the chair here on Wednesday.

The PML-Q and PPP have already decided to hold rallies on Friday to mourn around 1,000 heat-stroke related deaths in Karachi and protest the federal government’s failure to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, partly responsible for the deaths.

The PAT panel decided to stage protest demonstrations and rallies in front of press clubs in all major towns and instructions were issued to all the district presidents in this regard.

Dr Abbasi lamented that the government failed to control loadshedding even at Sehr and Iftar.
