LAKKI MARWAT: Hazrat Bilal, a student of Faiz Model High School, Lakki Marwat, topped the matriculation examination results which were announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Bannu on Wednesday.

The board’s Controller of Examinations Haider Zaman announced the results at a ceremony here.

According to results, Hazrat Bilal secured 1,022 marks followed by Shah Abdul Latif of Akram Khan Durrani College, Bannu, who bagged second position by obtaining 1,018 marks.

Syyeda Shafaq Shah of Panel High School, Bannu, and Raida Bibi of Army Public School and College, Bannu, shared the third position with 1,017 marks each. The overall top three position holders belong to the science group.

In arts group, Ms Maimoona of Government Girls High School, Ghoriwala Bannu, stood first by securing 908 marks. Kalsoom Bibi and Aneela Rehman of Government Girls High School, Abakhel Lakki Marwat, got second and third positions by obtaining 902 and 873 marks, respectively.

BISE Bannu Secretary Raj Mohammad Khan, who was chief guest on the occasion, congratulated the position holder students and distributed certificates and prizes among them.

PRICE REVIEW COMMITTEE MEETING: In order to maintain the sanctity of the holy month of Ramazan the district price review committee in consultation with the traders’ community has decided not to increase the prices of daily use commodities during the fasting month.

The committee met here at the District Headquarters Complex Tajazai on Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner Ihsanullah Khan in the chair.

On the occasion, some traders requested the deputy commissioner to increase the rates of gram, pulses, bakery items and ice but their request was turned down. The deputy commissioner asked the traders to avoid indulging in the illegal practices of profiteering and hoarding, otherwise strict action would be initiated against them.

He directed the price magistrates and officials of food department to pay frequent visits to bazaars and markets during Ramazan and ensure implementation of official price list in letter and spirit. He also directed the Lakki and Naurang municipal committees to improve cleanliness conditions and remove garbage dumps in urban localities on daily basis. — Correspondent
