ABBOTTABAD: PTI general secretary Jehangir Tareen has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will announce a special package for the families of those workers who were killed after the local government elections in Abbottabad.

He was talking to reporters at the press club here on Saturday. Earlier, he visited the families of the three PTI workers who were killed during a clash with a rival group. He offered condolence to the bereaved families over the irreparable loss.

He was accompanied by provincial Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Senator Azam Swati, MNA Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon and other party leaders.

Mr Tareen repeated the stance of PTI to hold re-elections in the province under the army supervision if demanded so by the political parties. He added that the election commission had failed to assess the polls task which led to mismanagement and complaints of rigging in some areas. The PTI leadership believed in fair and free elections and had never used pressure on the election staff to favour PTI candidates, he claimed.

Mr Tareen was confident to form local governments in Abbottabad, Haripur and other districts of Hazara division, and said that intra-party elections would be conducted in six months.

While talking about the achievements of KP government, he said more relief would be provided to business community in the province. He added sales tax would be brought down to 12.5 per cent from 17 per cent.

Mr Tareen said PTI executive council would take action against those who had violated the party code of conduct.
