ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Quetta witnessed a growth of over 61 per cent in its collection during the first 11 months of this fiscal year.

It collected Rs5.568 billion under various taxes in July-May period of 2014-15 as against Rs3.445bn in the corresponding period of last year.

The MCC collected revenue at three customs houses — Taftan, Chaman and NLC Dry Port Quetta.

Tax-wise break-up showed that it collected Rs954.485 million as customs duty in July-May 2014-15 as against Rs580.372m collected in the corresponding period of last year, an increase of 64.461pc.

The sales tax collection rose by 65.94pc to Rs3.538bn during the period under review as against Rs2.132bn in the corresponding period of last year.

The collection of additional sales tax jumped 19.07pc to Rs367.686m during July-May 2014-15 period as against Rs308.784m in the corresponding period of last year.

The MCC collected Rs636.773m in customs duty in July-May period this fiscal year as against Rs406.451m in the corresponding period of last year, an increase of 56.66pc.

The Federal Excise Duty (FED) collection stood at Rs71.870m during the period under review as against Rs17.124m in the corresponding period of last year, an increase of 319.71pc.
