PAKISTAN is one of the world’s countries which are most vulnerable to climate change, but very few studies have been conducted to measure the range and scale of climate change impact on its different sectors. The country is going to participate in the 21st global conference (COP 21) in Paris in December and present its case of vulnerability to the negative impacts of the climate change.

The country position on various issues and topics will come under discussion at the COP 21, which will be organised by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

According to media reports, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan has welcomed the remark of the French president about the much-awaited global climate agreement. He told rich countries that a roadmap for ramping up climate finance for developing countries to $100bn a year by 2020 is inevitable.

The summit aims at reducing global warming and climate altering carbon emissions.

Developing countries, which are seriously in the grip of negative impacts of climate change, should not accept any agreement which does not compensate them for the rising carbon emissions by the rich countries.
