A homely party for diplomats and friends was hosted by Dr Piyus Singh and his wife, Counselor of the Indian High Commission, last Friday evening. The mid-career diplomats were from a number of countries. Some children, too, peeped in at the adults’ gathering.
“We all enjoyed the delicious Pakistani food, which had some special Indian flavor,” said an American diplomat.
“And we certainly enjoyed the conversation,” she added.
“The party was hosted in such a homely and relaxed atmosphere Piyus and his wife had created. Often, diplomats meet in more formal gatherings, and children are rarely seen,” the US diplomat said.
Another diplomat said: “It is important that diplomats meet in relaxed situations where people-to-people contact is nurtured.”
An Asian diplomat said: “I hope Pakistanis and Indians will develop better contact and cooperation in future.”
