KOHAT: The chairman district development advisory committee Hangu, MPA Shah Faisal has asked journalists to play role of a bridge between the citizens and the government for betterment of the society.

He was addressing local journalists and elders after laying foundation stone of the Rs11.2 million building of the Hangu Press Club.

He said that the press club would be provided modern facilities so that journalists could discharge their duties without any problem.

He asked the journalists to help ensure good governance by pointing out weaknesses of the government.

Referring to the demands presented to him by the president of Hangu Union of Journalists, Israr Ahmed Oarkzai, Mr Faisal said he would talk to the PTI government and the oil exploration companies to provide funds announced for the local journalists.

Hangu Press Club president Mian Saiful Islam Kakakhel, vice president Tariq Mehmood Mughal and others were also in attendance.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A teenaged boy was killed while eight others, including a woman, were seriously injured when a pickup carrying a wedding party from Kaharmato to Anar Banda met an accident on the Indus Highway on Friday. The boy, Mohammad Azeem, was sitting on the roof, and died on the spot.

The injured were identified as Najma Bibi, Samad Khan, Abu Bakar, Mohammad Aziz, Fazal Hadi, Zikria Khan, Tahir and Abdur Rehman, all residents of Kharmato. They were shifted to KDA divisional headquarters hospital for treatment.

The Jarma police impounded the vehicle and launched further investigations into the incident.

LOADSHEDDING NOTICE: The Pesco has notified its consumers that additional loadshedding will be carried out from today (Saturday) from 9am to 9am on Tuesday (May 26) on account of installation of 11kv transformer at 132KV Kohat grid station.
