LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on maintainability of a petition seeking repatriation of former Pakistan ambassador to US Husain Haqqani, the prime suspect of the ‘memogate’ scandal.

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree filed the petition and stated that Haqqani committed treason with his own country. He said a judicial commission also found Haqqani guilty but he was allowed to leave the country. The lawyer said the former ambassador had submitted an undertaking before the commission but he never returned.

The petitioner asked the court to order the federal government to bring Haqqani back and try him for treason.
