KARACHI, Dec 23: The pace of investigations into the Ehtesham murder case is being reviewed frequently at high-level meetings, said police chief Syed Kamal Shah.

Hoping that police would soon make a headway in the case, he expressed satisfaction over the pace of investigations.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday, he said the pattern of the killing of Ehteshamuddin Haider was also being closely reviewed.

The police sources said that apparently the pattern of the killing was similar to the way PSO managing director Shaukat Raza Mirza had been killed.

They said the empty bullets, found at the place of the incident, had been sent for forensic examination and its result would help the police in detecting similarities with the previous incidents to find out as to who was involved in the killing.

Manzoor Mughal, SSP CIA, said that it had been established that two men riding on a black-coloured motorcycle stopped the car of Ehteshamuddin, one of them got down the motorcycle, went nearer to Ehtesham and pumped bullets into his body. The assailants then sped away toward Patel Para.

He said some of the people had been taken into custody for interrogation and no formal arrest had so far been made in that regard.

Ehteshamuddin Haider, administrator of Fatimid Foundation and elder brother of interior minister Moinuddin Haider, was shot dead near Fatimid Foundation in the Soldier Bazaar police limits on Dec 21, while he was on his way home.
