PESHAWAR: Peshawar, Swat, Bannu and Hazara reached semi-finals of the Khyber Pakht­u­­n­khwa Inter-Region Youth Games Hockey Champio­nship which started here at the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Monday.

In the tournament opener, Bannu beat Mardan by solitary goal scored by Asmatu­llah in a field attempt.

In the day’s second match, Swat stunned Kohat 3-0 with goals coming from Iqrarullah, Jamil and Shehzad.

Yasir scored for Hazara who overpowered Dera Ismail Khan 1-0.

Mohammad Saeed, vice-president of Pakistan Hockey Feder­ation, was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship.

Teams from Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Swat, Mardan, Hazara and hosts Peshawar are taking part in the event.
