KARACHI, Oct 2: The Pakistan Railways has introduced lower air-conditioned (special) coach in the Tezgam train running between Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The coach with a capacity of accommodating 52 passengers consists of nine independent compartments, including seven compartments with a capacity of six berths each, and two with five berths each.

Additional space has been provided for the luggage and the length of the berth is longer and wider than the existing Chinese coaches. The fans and sound system have an independent control in each compartment.

The reservation office in Rawalpindi had been allotted a quota of 42 berths in the specially designed coach built at Islamabad Carriage Factory, whereas ten seats had been allocated to the reservation office in Lahore.

Railway officials told APP that the fare from Rawalpindi to Karachi has been kept at Rs1,880 per passenger.

The passengers who boarded the train on its maiden journey, appreciated the design and comfort of the AC coach. — APP
