5 kidnapped in Sialkot

SIALKOT, Oct 1: Four armed men abducted a landlord’s wife and three minor children, besides taking away cash and valuables worth Rs307,000 from his house at Mughalpura mohallah, Daska, on Wednesday.

Reports said the armed men stormed into Allah Ditta’s house and bagged Rs107,000 in cash, and gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs200,000. They also abducted his wife Mumtaz Begum, daughters Anam (1), Saadia (5) and his son Adeel (7).

On the report of Allah Ditta, the Daska police have registered a case against Liaquat Ali, a resident of Vaneky Tarar village in Hafizabad, and his three accomplices.

A labourer’s minor daughter was abducted at gunpoint at Kandan Sayyan village.

Bambanwala police have registered a case against suspects Ayub, Javed and their father.

ONLINE TAX NUMBER: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has set up a cell to issue online NTN certificates.

The cell, set up at the Sialkot income tax office, is linked with the Islamabad head office. It will issue NTN certificate within 48 hours. Earlier, businessmen had to go to Lahore or Islamabad for the purpose.

PACKAGE FOR EXPATS: Punjab Industries Minister Ajmal Cheema has said the government will announce a special package of incentives for the overseas Pakistanis and foreigners to invest in Pakistan.

He told newsmen here on Wednesday that the government would evolve long term trade and export policies in consultation with the business community.

He said the government would focus its attention on providing maximum incentives to the SMEs besides providing them electricity and gas on subsidized rates.

Mr Cheema said the government would also give soft term loans to the industrialists to strengthen the economy.
