LADHA/BANNU: A soldier was killed and two were injured in attacks on checkposts in South Waziristan and another four personnel were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in Bannu on Sunday.

An army havaldar was shot dead in a sniper attack on the Paki security post from a nearby hilltop early in the morning.

A spokesman for the banned Mehsud Taliban, Azam Tariq, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sporadic clashes between security forces and the militant group have been taking place since a peace agreement with Mehsud Taliban ended and the Zarb-i-Azb operation was launched in North Waziristan.

Two personnel were injured in a rocket attack on the Bush Ghar Naray checkpost near Angor Adda.

In Bannu, four security personnel were injured when an improvised explosive device was detonated at Baran Dam in Drayaba Frontier Region while they were on routine patrol. They were taken to the Bannu Combined Military Hospital and a search operation was launched in the area.
