LAHORE: FIFA Consultant Director Eric Harrison hailing from UK has announced that the first artificial turf in Pakistan will be installed in Khanewal as part of the Khanewal Goal Project.

Harrison showed overwhelming satisfaction over the progress of the project in Khanewal after visiting the project the other day, said a press release issued by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

“The first-ever artificial turf in Pakistan will be installed in Khanewal and it is an ideal venue. Installation will be completed by December 2015 and one of the FIFA’s registered contractors will be engaged to finish this project,” he said.

The Khanewal Goal Project will be consisting of international standard having boarding and lodging facilities for 225 players and officials, one International standard pitch for matches and one for practice besides having a conference room and staff offices.

“The building of the Goal Project/FIFA Football Academy in Khanewal is being carried out at a great speed. It is expected to be completed and operational in the early months of 2016,” the PFF claims.

It was also proposed that in the next phase a swimming pool, gymnasium and international standard floodlights will also be installed as part of the project.
