LAHORE: A young girl was strangled allegedly by her father and brother in the name of honour in the Lower Mall area on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Nadia, 19, a BA student, and a resident of Manzoor Colony.

Police said Nadia’s father Allah Ditta and brother Sarfraz suspected that she was having a relationship with a man of their locality. Allah Ditta and Sarfraz tortured Nadia before strangling her, they added.

Both the suspects were arrested from a nearby locality and the victim’s body was shifted to morgue for autopsy.

A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s mother.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed in a collision between a container and a truck at Saggian Bridge on Thursday.

Police said Anwar, 22, of Mughalpura, was crossing the Saggian Bridge when a container hit him after colliding with a truck.

He sustained critical head injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he could not survive.

Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities.

FOUD DEAD: A newborn was found dead in waste on Walton Road.

Locals alerted police who took the body into custody and shifted it to morgue for identification.
