Reserves rise to $17.491bn

KARACHI: The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $17.491 billion during the week ending April 17 compared to $16.818bn the previous week, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Thursday.
The SBP reserves increased by $605 million to $12.364bn from $11.759bn, and the other banks’ holdings were $5.127bn as compared to $5.059bn.
The increase in reserves is mainly attributed to the receipts of privatisation proceeds of Habib Bank, the SBP said.
During the week, the SBP made payments of $270m on account of external debt servicing and other official payments.

This is very low figure of Foreign reserves. Our reserves are more than USD 300 Billion.

@Pashtunyar china start to liberate their foreign policies in 1880's but india started in 90's but now its world largest growing economy...!! so it will lead in reserve also in future...!!

@Pashtunyar Actually it is 4000 billion USD as of now. Why Indians has to brag and boast about anything which is least relevant here. The news is about Pakistan. Huge complexes...inferiority or superiority is anybody's guess.

So why, SBP and Mr. Ishaq Dar, despite the increase in FE holdings; the Rupee is on a consistent slide downwards? 6-8 eight months back it was 98 to the dollar, now it is 103 to the dollar. Is anyone taking notice?
