KOHAT: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has allowed conditional holding of elections of Kohat District Bar Association (DBA) on April 13.

The two candidates for the president’s slot, Amad Azam Khattak advocate and Riaz advocate, had filed objections against each other which resulted in a brawl and divided the bar into separate groups of Kohatians and Khattaks.

Mr Riaz had filed a complaint that his opponent Amad Azam had prepared a fake experience certificate of 15 years and under the rules of bar council he could not contest the elections. Similarly, a corruption case is lying with the bar council against former president Riaz advocate for a decision.

Keeping in view the prevailing tension, the bar council has issued a notification that the ballot boxes would be opened by it in Peshawar instead of the election committee of Kohat.

It has been decided that the bar council would decide the cases about alleged corruption and experience certificate and till then Kohat election commissioner Sajjad Ahmed would work as acting president of Kohat bar association.

If the case was proved against any one of the candidates or both they would stand disqualified and election to the slot of president would be held again.
