KOHAT: The police here have launched computerised guest verification system for hotels and restaurants with the help of Nadra to avoid harassment, unnecessary raids and registration of FIRs against the owners.

District police officer Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf introduced the new digital system to all the hotel, restaurant and guesthouse owners at a meeting held in Kohat Police Club on Thursday. It was attended by Nadra zonal manager Saeed Khan, project manager of information technology park Mohammad Ijaz and the owners of facilities situated in Kohat city.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sohaib said that the guest book service had been linked to Nadra for quick verification of visitors, and as such criminals staying at such facilities could be easily traced. He said that with the help of the system the computer operators could check whether the CNIC and profile of the guest were genuine or not with a single click and this data would be available to the police.

The Nadra service has been made available to the police and guesthouse owners through which the computer operators could verify the identity of the guests within seconds by Nadra.

For this purpose, police guest verification system’s office has been set up in the office of DPO which would monitor record of the people and inform the concerned police station about the presence of any suspicious person staying at a particular guesthouse or hotel.

The DPO asked the owners to install internet facility and CCTV cameras, and thoroughly check belongings of guests. He said that Nadra officials would help them in installation of the system.

TICKET AWARD BODY: The provincial leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf nominated the ticket award committee for the local government elections in Kohat district on Thursday. Party’s district president Chacha Hamayun has been named as its head, while Shahbaz Gul Shinwari will be its convener.

Other members of the committee include district secretary general Mohammad Shakil, MNA Shehryar Afridi, CM’s adviser Amjid Afridi, MPA Ziaullah Bangash and law minister Imtiaz Shahid.

BODY FOUND: Decomposed body of a 67-year old retired Levies official was found in the fields of Behramabad area on Rawalpindi highway on Thursday.

According to the CNIC found in the pocket of the deceased, his name was Fazal Hanan, resident of Ghiljo area of Orakzai Agency. Quoting the preliminary postmortem report, Saddar police said that the body was four days old.
