KARACHI: Three seeded players were among the top four crashing out on the opening day of two-day qualifiers of the 11th Chief of the Naval Staff International Squash Championship which commenced at the PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan squash complex on Thursday.

The trio that met their fate include top seed Syed Ali Mujtaba Shah Bokhari, second seed Ismail Rauf and fourth seed Zahir Shah.

Sadam-ul-Haq stunned Mujtaba 12-10, 11-13, 11-13, 11-7, 11-8, Abbas Shoukat followed suit by getting the better of Ismail 11-2, 11-5, 11-5 while Waqar Mehboob brushed aside Zahir 11-5, 11-8, 11-8.

The three winners – Sadam, Abbas and Waqar – have come after winning the pre qualifiers that preceded the qualifying round. They were joined in the final qualifying round by Abbas Maniar, Waqas Mehboob, Ahsan Ayaz, Haseeb Gul and Mansoor Zaman.

The final qualifiers takes place on Friday afternoon and the winners will step into the main round.
