KARACHI: A leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) clarified on Tuesday that the party Chief Altaf Hussain had termed Dr Farooq Sattar, Nadeem Nusrat and M. Anwar as seniors in the organisation and not his successor. On Monday, Mr Hussain had announced that he was stepping down as party chief and asked his followers to choose from among Dr Sattar, Mr Nusrat and Mr Anwar or someone else as his successor. But within hours, he retracted the statement of stepping down.

Wasay Jalil, in an email to Dawn clarified that Mr Hussain did not nominate any of the above-mentioned leaders as his successor, instead he referred them as seniors in the organisation.
