LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has finalised its 20 candidates for the Lahore Cantonment polls.

Lahore PTI President Abdul Aleem Khan announced the candidates on Monday, who are Muhammad Ali Khan (Cantt, ward No 1 in PP-156), Chaudhry Akhlaq Husain (ward No 2), Rasheed Ahmed (ward No 3), Faisal Faryad (ward No 4), Muhammad Taimoor Akhtar (ward No 6), Muhammad Ehsan Butt (Walton Cantt Board, ward No 1), Malik Tahir Mahmood (ward No 2), Muhammad Akbar Gujjar ((Ward no 5), Muhammad Aslam Jutt (Walton Cantt, ward No 4, PP-155), Azmatullah Warraich (ward No 7), Sheikh Basharat Ali (ward No 9) and Ilyas Bhatti (Lahore Cantt, ward no 10).

Mr Khan welcomed the Lahore High Court decision regarding holding the local body elections in Cantonments on a party basis.

Calling the decision on a PTI’s writ petition a big success, Mr Khan said the decision would discourage the incumbent government from “buying” the winning candidates.

He also said that Barrister Sultan Mahmood’s success in by-election in Azad Kashmir was a good news for Pakistan.

He said the PTI and Imran Khan were the most popular party and leader in the country.

Earlier, Mr Khan held a meeting with candidates and said the party had selected a best team and now it was their duty to perform well before and on April 25.
