ABBOTTABAD: Asad Tanveer advocate was elected president and Jalal Shah advocate general secretary of the Abbottabad District Bar Association (DBA) on Saturday.

Mr Tanveer got 192 votes against his rival Asad Jadoon’s 179 votes. Mr Shah secured 168 votes to win against Zeb Tanoli who could poll 146 votes. Other office-bearers include Saeedur Rehman advocate vice-president and Babar Shafi who was elected unopposed as secretary.

HARIPUR: Khursheed Azhar advocate was elected president and Yasir advocate general secretary of the Haripur District Bar Association.

Mr Azhar polled 224 votes against Jamil Tanoli advocate’s 123 votes. Mr Yasir got 208 votes while his rival Khalid Tanoli could poll 144. Other office-bearers include Maqbool Elahi advocate vice-president, Sajid Ali joint secretary and Sardar Sajid library secretary.

KARAK: Mehboobur Rehman advocate won the slot of president and Waseeullah general secretary in the elections of Karak District Bar Association here on Saturday. The election was supervised by senior lawyers Sakhi Janan and Bughdad advocate.

Mr Rehman received 31 votes, while his rival Jan Alam advocate could secure 25 votes. Rehman Shah was elected unopposed as vice-president.

LAKKI MARWAT: Niamatullah Khan was elected president and Ikramullah Khan general secretary of Lakki District Bar Association on Saturday.

Mr Niamatullah (79 votes), who was elected president for the fourth consecutive term, defeated Asif Saleem (45 votes), while Mr Ikramullah (69 votes) won against Hafiz Jamshed of Islamic Lawyers Movement.

Three other office-bearers of the bar had already been elected unopposed. They include vice-president Mohammad Akram, joint secretary Habibur Rehman and finance secretary Hameed Nawaz.

MANSEHRA: Hafiz Naseem advocate has been elected president and Akhtar Nawaz general secretary of Mansehra District Bar Association. The elections were held on Saturday.

Mr Naseem (174 votes) defeated Munir Hussain Lughmani (152), who remained president for two consecutive terms. For the post of general secretary, Akhtar Nawaz polled 212 votes to defeat Mubarak Shah who could get 132 votes. Taj Mohammad Khan was elected vice-president of the association.
