FAISALABAD: The National Textile University administration has suspended 12 students on charges of creating unrest and violating conducive academic environment of the institute.

A notification was issued by Registrar Dr Muhammad Ashfaq. Six students have been suspended from the university for a year, including Muhammad Shahryar Daha, Muhammad Shazal Saleem, Ali Khursheed, Muhammad Toqeer Butt, Muhammad Touseef and Muhammad Luqman Ashraf.

Muhammad Aftab Khan, Sumair All, Muhammad Noman, Muhammad Selman Ali, Saad Ali and Usman Ayub have been suspended for six months.

The penalised students have also been debarred from holding office of any student body or society as well as any kind of scholarship/financial assistance during their stay at the university and any employment in the university in future.

The students will be on disciplinary probation and repetition of such act will make them liable to be expelled from the university for good. They have been given the right to appeal to the rector against their punishments within 15 days.

ROBBERS ESCAPED: Four alleged robbers escaped from the Tooran police post of Tandlianwala City police station on Thursday night.

Police said Samiullah, Asif, Fayyaz and Waqas, allegedly involved in robberies and dacoities, were detained at the police post, but they managed their escape by damaging its roof.

Taking notice of the incident, City Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik suspended five policemen -- post in-charge ASI Mohammad Yousaf, head-constables Mohammad Ashraf and Zafar Iqbal and constables Riaz and Shahid -- from service. Head-constable Zafar was taken into custody.

The CPO constituted a team, led by the Saddar Division SP, for the arrest of the fugitives.
