HYDERABAD: Seven people, including two women, were arrested after they allegedly helped two absconders flee during a chase in an area falling within the Bhitai Nagar police station on Thursday.

Police claimed that they signalled a motorcycle to stop but the riders instead tried to escape towards Abdullah Garden. They further claimed the suspects, Ali Hassan Chandio and Barkat aka Sultan Buledi, the absconders who were wanted by police in cases of attempted murder and encounter with police.

During a brief chase the suspects fired on the police party while their associates and relatives reached there. Taking advantage of the situation, the absconders managed to escape.

The arrested suspects were identified as Mohammed Hassan, Rafique, Dilbar, Gul Hassan, Sonari, wife of Mohammad Hassan, Aziza, wife of Ali Hassan, and Khadim.
