QUETTA: Scores of suspects were rounded up in manhunts carried out by security forces in different parts of Quetta on Saturday.

A joint team of Frontier Corps, police and Anti-Terrorist Force launched combed different areas in the wee hours of Saturday, sources said.

“The search operation was conducted on information that some elements were planning acts of subversion on the eve of Pakistan Day,” a senior police officer said, adding that the joint operation was conducted in Jail Road, Manu Jan Road, Sabzal Road and Sariab areas.

“Over 55 suspects were arrested by security forces in the overnight search operations,” sources said. They said that all the suspects were handed over to the authorities concerned for interrogation.

They said illegal arms and ammunition were also seized during the operation, including a huge quantity of explosives, hand-grenades.
