NAROWAL: At least two children were killed and three others were injured, when the speeding school van they were travelling in overturned in Punjab’s Narowal district Thursday morning.

The fatal mishap occurred near Badwal Mor in Shakargarh town as the van driver attempted to prevent collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction causing the bus to sidetrack and subsequently overturn.

Two children were killed on the spot and while three others sustained injuries.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and transported the victims to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Pakistan has a poor road safety record with bad roads, speeding vehicles and poor driving among the contributing factors. Thousands of people lose their lives annually in road accidents.
