DADU: Jani Chandio, a notorious dacoit carrying Rs500,000 head-money, surrendered himself to police on Thursday, Dadu SSP Rukhsar Ahmed Khuhawar told a press conference at the local CIA centre.

Barkat Ali Chandio aka Jani Chandio was wanted by police in 16 cases of heinous crimes including highway and house robberies, kidnapping for ransom and murders, registered against him at various police stations in Dadu district.

The SSP said that three suspects, Arslan, Saddam and Ehsan Panhwar, had been arrested and looted money, gold jewellery and other goods, besides weapons and ammunition, were seized from them.

The looted goods belonged to Dadu civil surgeon Dr Insaf Magsi, Dadu Civil Hospital storekeeper Imtiaz Chnadio, and some other people who lost their belongings to the dacoits in house robberies, the SSP said.

Doctors and paramedics at the hospital had been observing a boycott of their duties for some days to demand arrest of the dacoits and recovery of the booty.

The SSP said that a hunt for two more suspects, Nazia Panhwar and Murtza Birhmani, believed to be involved in house robberies was on.
