Excellence made easy

Published March 14, 2015

ALL of us dream about making it really big in this small world, don’t we? We dream of getting our names recognised by everyone. But why just dream about this? Why not turn it into a reality?

Dreams don’t come true by just dreaming, they need to be turned into reality with effort, determination and some heard work. Sometimes the going may be tough but the reward, in the shape of your dreams coming true or maybe something even better, will be worth the effort. So take the tough challenge and get set to fulfil your dreams. It’s time to show the world who you are!

Believe you can

“Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard, and there is nothing you cannot accomplish.” — Brad Henry

The foremost thing to do is make up your mind. Believe that you can do it, that nothing is impossible. Once you have faith in yourself and your abilities, you will have confidence and will not look to someone else for support. This is important because too much dependence on others can have its problems because others will not be as passionate about what you want to achieve and will not work as hard as you will.

You will trust your abilities and instincts, set your goal in your field of interest; make it your passion because passion is what lets you do anything and everything to achieve what you want.

Start from scratch

Any day can be a new beginning for you so why not begin today? Let’s begin from your school. Say you are a low ranker and you want to be amongst the toppers of your class. It’s not going to happen all of a sudden, you would need to work for that.

Those who get the top three positions in the class surely burn the midnight oil to get there; you also need to do the same. It may take a couple of months, even years, but if you set your mind to it and take the task seriously, you are surely going to improve your ranks.

Practice to perfect

Remember practice makes a man perfect! And lots of practice takes lots of time and effort, so stay patient throughout fellows. Nobody’s born perfect. Perfection is what people achieve here in this world. Being on top always means getting through tough times in the beginning and overcoming all obstacles to finally reach your goals.

Mistakes are okay

“If you learn from every mistake, you never fail at anything.” ―

— Donald L. Hicks

Making mistakes and learning from them is what’s called getting experience. And experience brings you the best in life. Forget your failures; don’t waste time pondering over how many times you have failed. This demotivates you and convinces you that you can never achieve success (which obviously isn’t the case). So just learn from the past, forget the rest and move on with life. Live each day striving for a better tomorrow, for a better future, for what your life is worth living i.e. your goal.

Helen Keller once wrote, “Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures but of the success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you preserve.”

Dare to be different

Think from a different angle, have a different approach towards life.

All great personalities like Quaid-i-Azam and Steve Jobs had this distinctive quality of possessing a different thought, a unique one. Don’t be influenced by other’s opinion, your own thoughts should be more important for you.

You must start thinking out of the box because only if you think differently, can you do something different and can excel at something that you think is different.

Impossible doesn’t exist

Nothing is impossible. Even the word itself says ‘I am possible’! Trust yourself, if you believe you can do something, there’s nobody in the world who can stop you from doing it. But if you listen to others who say you simply cannot do it, there’s nothing in the world that will make you do it!

Motivation should come from within you, and while there will be your dear ones giving you a lot of motivation and encouragement, unless you too feel you can do something, you will not be able to do it. So make sure the little voice inside your head and heart always gives you positive messages and encouragement. That’s the voice you should be listening to.

Ever heard of bumble bee? According to the greatest minds in science, technically it should not fly because its wings are much smaller than its body to provide the lift to its weight. But it can still fly — you must be wondering why. The same question was asked to a scientist once and he said that if bumble bee would have heard that it couldn’t fly, it would have never flown then. So you see, you must ignore all the hurdles that come in the way to your success. Ignore what people say, you must go ahead and fly like the bumble bee!

Winning is just the beginning

“Winners take imperfect actions while the losers are still perfecting the plan.” ― — Gina Graves

This is a great quote with very obvious meanings. Being a winner once can make you think that whatever you do next can never go wrong. While as a loser, you take every step very cautiously, watching over the pros and cons of every decision that you make. So don’t be complacent once you have achieve something, the chase is not yet over.

To keep excelling, set a new goal once you have achieved one. If you become complacent with what you have achieved, you will never grow and what you have can also go away before your celebration party is over. So create the habit of always growing; remind yourself each day what you need to work for.

Life is tough, it’s difficult to achieve all your goals but never lose hope. If hope is gone, all is gone. Trust nobody but your own self. Trust you abilities and, most importantly, have faith in Almighty Allah. Always remember a positive thinker and a hard worker never fails!

Work hard, achieve your goals and let the world salute you. Good luck!
