CHITRAL: The local police on Tuesday claimed arresting the prime suspect involved in a triple murder case.

The murder occurred in Osiak area of Drosh in May, last year, and the main culprit named Mian Gul Jan nwas at large and had reportedly slipped into the bordering Afghanistan, said sub-divisional police officer of Drosh, Zafar Ahmed, while talking to media persons here.

The police officer said that Gul Jan and his two sons were wanted by the Chitral police in the high profile case in which two brothers and a son of one of them was shot dead in a pre-dawn attack. He said that the accused belonged to Langur Bat area of Arandu, the villager bordering Nooristan province of Afghanistan.

Mr Ahmed said that the arrest of the absconding murderer and his sons had become a challenge for the local police as fair investigation was not possible without their arrest.

The official said that the police kept monitoring the movements of the accused and laid siege to his home situated in the mountainous area of Langur Bat when he entered his village from Barawal area of Upper Dir.

Mr Ahmed said that it was an uphill task to carry out operation in a hilly area which was covered with snow, but better planning didn’t allow the offender to offer resistance. He expressed the hope that Tahir and Israel, the two sons of Mina Gul, who are also involved in the murder, would be nabbed soon.

The accused and the arms and ammunition recovered from his possession were produced before the media persons on the occasion.
