Addressing a meeting here on Monday, the leaders of LGF said that the tactics of the provincial government had upset them. The meeting was attended by LGF provincial vice-president Taufiq Zaman, information secretary Shaukat Ali Anjum, Mardan division chairman Qasim Ali and district president Niaz Ali besides local leaders and workers of the federation.

The participants of the meeting said that provincial government failed to meet their demands. They demanded of the government to fulfil their demands before the upcoming local government elections.

The speakers said that their three main demands included service structure for local government employees, upgradation of their service and regularisation of all the contract employees.

The failure of the government created a sense of deprivation and frustration among the workers, they said, adding that it was responsibility of the government to take steps after making promises with the leaders of local government employees.

Mr Qasim said that they planned to stage a protest sit-in outside Al-Markaz Islami till acceptance of their demands by the government.
