SUKKUR: The Sukkur district administration on Friday imposed a ban on the holding of public meetings, rallies, sit-ins or demonstrations at Clock Tower by political, religious or any other organisations.

Known as the ‘Hyde Park of Sukkur’, the intersection is considered an ideal place for holding such events due to its location, in the heart of the city.

Business community and traders organisations had long been demanding a ban on such events as they badly affect the business, trade and commercial activities in the area, housing over two dozen markets, and routine life on the city.

The administration, according to official sources, will be holding a multi-party conference in a few weeks to discuss strict implementation of the ban.
