PESHAWAR: The provincial chapter of Sunni Supreme Council (SSC) has announced to launch a protest movement against the recent sectarian killings and terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, SSC provincial chief Allama Abul Fazl Mohammad Subhan Qadri urged the government to shift the cases of the suspects involved in sectarianism to military courts for quick disposal.

He said that they would launch a province-wide protest movement on Friday (today) against the recent sectarian violence including attack on Imamia Masjid in Hayatabad and murder of Maulana Mehmood Shah Rizivi in Oghi, Mansehra district.

“During the first phase of the movement, a series of peaceful protest demonstrations would be held across the province. All minority groups would take part in it,” Mr Qadri said. He added that the protest demonstrations would be held outside Chief Minister’s House and the building of provincial assembly in the second phase of the movement.

“The protest movement would continue till arrest of killers of Maulana Mehmood Shah Rizvi,” he said.

Flanked by representatives of Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, Tanzeemul Mashiakh Ahle Sunnat, Jamiat Ulma-i-Islam, Dawat-i-Islami, Sunni Tehreek and Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan, Mr Qadri said that government should try the suspects involved in sectarian killings in the military courts and award them exemplary punishment. — Bureau Report
