LAHORE: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) conducted an emergency evacuation exercise at the Allama Iqbal International Airport here on Thursday.

The exercise was held considering the prevailing security situation. Non-toxic smoke was generated in a room.

Fire fighters, ambulances and Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the site. Simulated casualities were stabilised and shifted to nearby hospitals.

According to a spokesman, advanced fire detection and alarm system, and fire hydrant system were operated during the exercise. “Latest aircraft rescue equipment and most advanced snorkel of Rescue 1122 were also successfully tested,” he said.

CAA Airport Manager Rashid Hussain thanked the participants.
