RAWALPINDI: Mr Golwalkar, Dictator of the Hindu fanatic organisation — the RSS — has threatened the people of South India with reprisals from North India, if the former persisted in their anti-Hindi agitation. In a speech reported in the “Organiser” of Delhi, official mouthpiece of the RSS, Mr Golwalkar is reported to have said that if the Indian Government “succumbed to threats and violence of some people in the South”, the people in the Northern States “like Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh etc. might be provoked to resist with equal vigour the imposition of English.” The speech which is captioned “English Will Go, Shall Go, Must Go,” said in a challenging tone: “We will have to force the English language to quit.” It will be recalled that there have been Press reports of an unwritten alliance between the RSS and the Indian Government and the former has of late been playing the role of unofficial spokesman of the latter. — Agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from New Delhi], according to a “Press Trust of India” report, nurses in Dhanbad hospital found themselves in a predicament last week when they were faced with a pile of prescriptions and directives written in Hindi. The nursing staff, all belonging to non-Hindi speaking states, did not understand a word of Hindi. However, the Hospital Superintendent came to their rescue and gave the medical staff the option to write either in English or Hindi.
