TIMERGARA: The secondary school teachers (SSTs) here have demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and high-ups of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department to start measures for regularisation of SSTs recruited through NTS last year.

In a statement, Tauseef Khan, Ashfaq Ahmad and others said that their services had not been regularised despite the passage of one year. They said that around 1,100 contract SST teachers had been awaiting regularisation of their services.

They said that finance minister Muzaffar Syed had also assured the teachers in a meeting to present a bill in the provincial assembly for regularisation of these sanctioned posts.

They said that the teachers should not be deprived of their legitimate right, as they had gone through a tough selection process of NTS tests.

JI PROTEST: The Jamaat-i-Islami, Lower Dir, on Sunday held a protest rally against what it called distribution of Sui gas on political grounds in the area. More than 200 workers of JI, led by its lawmakers, took out a rally from Ahyaul Uloom Balambat.

The protesters marched on the roads and chanted slogans against Senator Zahid Khan. They gathered in front of the Timergara press club. The rally was addressed by MNA Sahibzada Yaqub, MPA Saeed Gul and Maulana Asadullah.

They alleged that natural gas was being distributed in Lower Dir areas on political grounds. They claimed that people were being asked to quit their parties and join ANP for getting gas connections.
