KARACHI: A suspected robber was killed in a police encounter in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday evening.

Aziz Bhatti police said that two muggers were looting cash and other valuables from a man at a bank ATM near the Ashfaq Memorial Hospital when a police patrol reached there. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, resulting in bullet injuries to Constable Akbar Khan. In ‘retaliatory firing,’ one of the suspects was killed, said SHO Abbas Ali Kolachi.

However, his accomplice managed to escape, he said, adding that the police recovered Rs30,000, two mobile phones and one motorbike from the deceased.
