LAHORE: Iran has offered to the National College of Arts exchange of students and scholarship programmes with different art educational institutions in Tehran and 1sphaan.

Iranian Counsel General Mohammad Hossain Bani Asadi, who was chief gust at the opening ceremony of NCA’s Degree Show 2014, said this on Saturday.

“NCA is one of the most prestigious art institution of the country. I appreciate their efforts in the field of visual art”, told Dawn.

He said art was like a flower and every flower had got its own fragrance. If one looked at the artworks on display at the show one would describe them as bouquet of art having divers range of flowers, he added.

The chief guest inaugurated the show at Zahoorul Akhlaq Art Gallery where paintings were on display. He also took a round of the college and talked to different students whose works were on display.

The presentation of different artworks -- paintings, sculpture or video installations -- was just fabulous.

The newly-built area over the cafeteria needs a special mention that is specially designed to have a chit-chat, lunches and dinners with dignitaries, writers and artists. There was a beefed up security at the front and rear gates of the college.

A good number of guests from different walks of life also visited the NCA to attend the mega exhibition.

NCA Principal Murtaza Jaffri said the students had tried their best to come up with thought provoking ideas through their artworks. He specially mentioned a project by a student of Product Design who had crafted and prepared a game like thing for blind children.

It was an exciting day at the NCA for both students and their relatives as students from all the departments such as miniature painting, print making, sculpture, textile ceramics, film and TV had put on display their works in the Degree Show.

The Film and TV department projects were also on display. The projects widely spoke of the state-of-the-art production and editing facilities at the department.

The students projects were themed on different socio-economic problems the society is confronted with.
