KALAYA: A bomb planted outside a primary school in Babu Tang area of Orakzai Agency here was safely defused on Friday.

Officials said that the local people after spotting the suspicious material lying outside the main gate of the school informed the security forces. Later, the security forces and bomb disposal squad personnel cordoned off the area and recovered the device.

Bomb disposal squad in-charge, Mr Jafar, said that the explosive device weighing four kilograms was safely defused.

The school building was cleared after a search operation.

A teacher of the school said that the students were evacuated from the building soon after the bomb was discovered. He said that the bomb disposal squad and the security forces took prompt action and safely defused the explosive device.
