GUJRANWALA: The district government has sealed several stone crushing and grinding factories.

A report by Additional District Collector (ADC) Maryum Kiyani about stone crushing factories sent to Commissioner Shumail Ahmed and District Coordination Officer Azmat Mahmood says 15 people have been killed on the sites of crushing and grinding of marble and other stones.

The Supreme Court took action on an application by a member of the public and ordered the district government to take action against such factories.

The report says the stone crushing and grinding factories emitted dust and smoke damaging the lungs of labourers. Sadar Assistant Commissioner Arifullah Awan sealed stone crushing factories on GT Road and Bajwa road.
