GWADAR: Six kidnapped employees of a private company working on the reconstruction of Shadi Kour dam near Pasni have been released.

The banned Baloch Republican Army had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping four days ago.

According to official sources, the militants released two drivers on Thursday and the rest of the employees, including a resident engineer of the company, on Friday.

“Armed men set them free in Blangur area of Gwadar district,” an official of Levies Force said.

A dumper taken away by the kidnappers has not been found.

“The kidnapped workers and engineers have safely reached Pasni,” Hameed-ullah Baloch, a senior official of the company said.

Meanwhile, the company has stopped work on the project after the abduction of its employees.

“The organisation responsible for the kidnapping has asked us to abandon work on the project,” said Zahir Khan, a contractor.

Official sources said that around 90 per cent of the construction work had been completed at a cost of Rs6 billion.

Shadi Kour dam was washed away by floods which wreaked havoc in Makran division in 2005.
