PESHAWAR: Firing on a school van by unidentified men on Friday morning injured a young girl in northwestern Pakistan's Charsadda district.

The nature of the injury sustained by the girl could not be ascertained immediately.

According to police, the incident that took place in Charsadda's Manikhel area of Sar Dheri was not a militant attack and the gunmen had a personal dispute with the driver.

Sar Dheri police have registered a case in relation to the incident and have started a search for the gunmen.

According to sources, the injured girl has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda.

The school van is reported to have been carrying 15 children.

Security for school children has become a major concern in many parts of the country, especially after the horrific attack on Peshawar's Army Public School which killed 150 people, most of them children.
