LAHORE: Dr Sohail Aftab Qureshi has been elected president of the Teaching Staff Association (TSA), University of Engineering and Technology, for the session 2015.

The other elected members are Dr Asad Naeem Shah and Dr Rashid Jalil (vice presidents), Muhammad Rashid (general secretary), Dr Qasim Ali Chaudhry (joint secretary), Sarah Javed Shah (social secretary), Muhammad Amir Shahzad, Dr Amjad Husain, Dr Ahmad Shoaib and Sohail Manzoor (treasurers); and Dr Tahir Izhar, Jamal Umar, Dr Muhammad Burhan Sharif and Dr Umar Rashid (executive members).

The TSA elected body met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid and assured its support and cooperation. It also suggested the elections of all the bodies should be on the biometric system. It also stressed that the UET website and the IT department should be upgraded on advanced lines. It said the selection board, Senate and academic council meeting dates should be mentioned in the university calender.

VC Prof Khalid congratulated TSA office-bearers and assured that he would leave no stone unturned for the betterment of the university and associations working in the university. He said the UET administration would work as a team with the TSA to make joint efforts for the betterment of the university, its employees and students.
