THE Ghotki railway station is situated on the main railway line. After Rohri, it is the biggest and busiest station of northern Sindh. Hundreds of travellers commute daily from here by up and down trains.

A lot of agriculture and industrial commodities are loaded here for different parts of the country. It is substantially a revenue-earning station for Pakistan Railways.

Sadly, the condition of the station is poor. Platforms are in bad condition. There is no proper lighting and cleanliness. There are no properly furnished waiting rooms for passengers who face hardships, particularly the women.

The maintenance and renovation work of the Ghotki railway station has become long overdue. The railway minister is requested to look into the sorry state of Ghotki station and issue orders for its renovation.
