Indian thanks

Published February 1, 2015

I WAS able to visit Pakistan in January for about 12 days. The immensely rewarding journey was made possible by the combined help and courtesy of the New York consulate and a friendly and competent travel, who helped plan a journey which allowed me to see almost everything I wished to see.

I came fearful of the way I might be received on account of the triple handicap of being an Indian, a Hindu and a citizen of the US. I was greatly touched by the gracious hospitality and sincere and welcoming warmth shown to me by every Pakistani I encountered.

I thank every one in Pakistan for their hospitality. I will definitely consider a return visit with family.

I can say with confidence after visiting several places over many days that Pakistan is not a failing state, and terrorism in terms of daily life is an exaggerated problem.

Pakistan is an undiscovered treasure for tourists and this needs to be better known. I am confident thousands of Indian tourists would enjoy a visit to Pakistan.

I plan to write a similar letter to some Indian newspapers as well. Thanks Pakistan for making possible a journey of a lifetime!
