KARAK: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited on Friday restored gas supply to the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and parts of Punjab after 72 hours of suspension.
The development came after the severing of illegal gas connections in different localities of Karak.
Raza Khan Khattak, local spokesman for SNGPL, told reporters that his organisation had restored gas supply to all parts of the district and other parts of the country besides repairing gas lines.
“Gas supply has been restored to Takht-i-Nusrati tehsi, some parts of Karak tehsil, district Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, DI Khan and some parts of Punjab after 72 hours of suspension,” he said, adding that the local people didn’t interfere with the work.
The SNGPL spokesman said the people of Kanda Karak, Kanda Bajikhel and other areas had secured illegal gas connections from the main gas line at six different points.
“They’re very dangerous connections as the leakage of gas from there could cause massive damage to public life and property,” he said.
Khattak urged the people not to secure gas from illegal connections saying such an act could prove deadly.
He also said the media should create public awareness for the purpose.
