KARACHI, Sept 18: A woman was set on fire by bandits when she recognised one of them during a robbery in Khokhrapar on Thursday.

Police said three masked bandits came to the house of Mehrunnisa and begun collecting valuables after holding the woman hostage at gunpoint.

As they were fleeing with the loot, Mehrunnisa caught holdone of them and unmasked him. The suspect turned out to be a neighbour. As his identity was exposed, the suspects tied up the woman and set her on fire.

However, soon afterwards the victim’s children came home from the school, rescued their mother and informed the neighbours of the incident.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she was stated to be in a stable condition. Police have registered a case against the suspects.

ARRESTED: Police on Thursday arrested three men in the Darakhshan police limits who had allegedly come to rob a petrol station.

The police said the three suspects on a motorcycle came to a petrol station located at Khayaban-i-Mohafiz. As they saw a police mobile of the Darakhshan police station, the suspects tried to run away.
