RAWALPINDI: Intelligence agencies on Friday reported 23 violations of Amplifier Act by clerics in Juma prayers.

The police have so far registered more than 85 cases against the prayer leaders on charges of violating the ban. The new section of the amplifier act empowers the police to confiscate equipment and also arrest the individual involved in violating the ban.

All the cases of violations of loudspeakers were registered with the police under section 6 of sound system act (the new amendment in sound system ordinance). Police also confiscated sound system of the violator.

The police were also directed that cases under loudspeaker act must be registered after proper verification.

As there shall be summery disposal of cases by the magistrates therefore, it should be ensured by the supervisory officer that innocents are not convicted.
