CHARSADDA: Awami National Party central president Asfandyar Wali Khan has urged the religious and political leaders to concentrate on implementation of National Action Plan to eliminate terrorism from the country.

He was addressing a meeting of party workers held at Wali Bagh here on Monday in connection with the death anniversaries of nationalist leaders Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

The meeting was also addressed by ANP central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain and provincial president Ameer Hiader Khan Hoti. ANP leaders including Senator Afrasiab Khattak, MNA Ghulam Ahmed Biluor, Senator Haji Adeel, acting provincial general secretary Aimal Wali Khan, provincial information secretary Saradar Hussain Babak, district president Barrister Abdullah and general secretary Mohammad Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion.

Criticising the provincial government, Asfandyar said that instead of demanding formation of judicial commissions on few National Assembly seats it should constitute a judicial commissions for inquiry into the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar.

He said that provincial government couldn’t absolve itself from security lapse on its part.

He said that the problems faced by the tribal people should be resolved after taking them into confidence. He said that decisions should not be imposed on tribal people. He said that tribal people were patriotic citizens and rendered sacrifices for defending frontiers of the country at critical times.

The ANP leader said that the country would not have faced the issues of terrorism and lawlessness if the non-violence philosophy of Bacha Khan was followed after creation of Pakistan.

Asfandyar Khan said that they would follow in the footprints of their predecessors, who had rendered sacrifices for independence of Pakistan, restoration of democracy and establishment of writ of government.

He stressed both Pakistan and Afghanistan governments to make joint efforts for elimination of terrorism. He said that peace in Afghanistan was vital for peace in Pakistan.

The ANP leader demanded immediate repatriation of displaced people, saying federal and provincial governments were engaged in leg pulling and had no time to for repatriation of IDPs with honour and dignity.

The meeting through different resolutions demanded implementation of National Action Plan, rejected change in Kashgar-Gwadar route and condemned printing of sacrilegious caricatures in a French magazine.

Later, the participants of the meeting laid floral wreath on the grave of Khan Abdul Wali Khan.
